Jussi Parantainen, who has worked for Finnchain Oy for almost 20 years, is a buyer who ensures that high quality is met. Ensuring competitiveness and security of supply requirements, among other things, accurate scheduling, real-time monitoring, supply chain optimisation and quality assurance.
CLEARLY IN DAILY BASIS
My job is to buy the right quantity of the right goods of the right quality at the right time and at the right price from the right source. I mainly do all direct and indirect purchasing. I negotiate with subcontractors and suppliers. I appreciate that they stick to the agreed delivery times - without compromising on quality.
I am also responsible for property and equipment maintenance. As maintenance manager, I am responsible for short and long-term maintenance projects, such as PTS review and maintenance, tendering and procurement of tools, machinery, services and contracts.

I work in Rauma. I work closely with a project management team that includes myself, Chief Operating Officer Kukka-Maaria Myllymaa, Project Coordinator Olli Pirkkanen, Accounting Specialist and Environmental Manager Jenina Ruohonen, Assembly Foreman Juha Snicker and Transport and Invoicing Manager Sanna Järvelä.

I have been working at Finnchain for 19 years now, so I joined the company in 2006. I have been doing procurement since 2021, with the main purchasing role since 2024 after the previous purchasing manager retired. Becoming a buyer was easy in the sense that I knew the products inside out. I have experience in many areas of my own business. In previous roles, I have worked with steel component assemblies, among other things.

In a buyer's job, you need to be able to manage several different things at the same time. You need to be able to lead yourself and work well together as part of a project management team. Accurate scheduling and real-time monitoring are important in everyday life.
The core of my job is collaboration with suppliers as well as with other departments in the company, such as product development and production. Success in this job requires analytical, interpersonal and pressure management skills.

We monitor the quality of our products together with the Materials Engineering Laboratory of Turku University of Applied Sciences. The resulting data is used to ensure that the quality matches what we promise our customers.
