Kimmo Kosunen, the Engineering Manager at Finnchain, leads a three-person design department. In addition to actual design work, he ensures close and efficient collaboration to guarantee daily success.
CLEARLY IN DAILY BASIS
I have been working as the Engineering Manager for three years now. I distribute design tasks between myself and two other designers, as I also primarily do design work myself. Together, we decide who will handle which task to make the best use of each person's strengths.
CLEARLY AT POINT
I work at the Rauma office together with the other designers. Since our work is project-based, there are times when we are particularly busy. In such cases, we also order design support from our partner company. No one succeeds alone—it is all about seamless teamwork.

I have been working at Finnchain since 2008. I initially joined as a designer and became the Engineering Manager in 2022. My previous work experience is diverse; I have worked in the metal industry in roles such as welding and hydraulics. After graduating from Turku University of Applied Sciences, I started working in design.

In addition to expertise, teamwork skills are essential in my job, as I need to collaborate with different kinds of people. Over the decades, Finnchain has accumulated a broad selection of various components used in the manufactured scraper systems, yet each project is unique. We frequently design new steel parts, making knowledge of materials, their processing, and strength properties crucial. My prior experience in the metal industry greatly supports this aspect of my work.
